Why This Reference Exists
South Valley is a Census-designated place, not a city with one comprehensive directory office. Bernalillo County keeps property and recorded-document materials; the New Mexico Secretary of State and Judiciary control separate public-access routes; and Albuquerque Public Library, Special Collections, UNM, and SRCA provide historical research paths. The goal is to help readers begin with the correct custodian, record type, and limit rather than treating unrelated records as one list.
What the Directory Includes
- Search paths: the street directory, directory book, and resident lookup approaches.
- Custodian details: the Assessor, County Clerk, elections officials, courts, vital-record office, and historical repositories.
- Research methods: parcel-to-deed work, historical directory reading, and date-based household tracing.
- Access boundaries: New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act procedures, restricted record categories, and confirmation steps.
